Adopt a Drain Program

Do you have 15 minutes twice a month to help protect our lakes and rivers?  Consider adopting a storm drain!  Adopters are asked to clean the surface of their storm drain twice a month and report the quantity and composition of debris removed. Join this program now in one of these communities:

Water Quality Monitoring - OWPP Mud Chaser Program

The Oconomowoc Watershed Protection Program (OWPP) monitors water quality at various locations in the watershed. This long-term monitoring is essential to our program progress and is a requirement of our Adaptive Management Program utilized to gain compliance with Wisconsin DNR.

One important system of monitoring utilized is a volunteer network in a program called Mud Chasers. In this program, volunteers have assigned areas where they observe water quality and take samples during and after storm events. They report their observations and data gathered to the OWPP Director.

This is an opportunity for someone who is interested in volunteering on a long-term basis rather than just a seasonal commitment. Equipment used for this monitoring is supplied by the OWPP.

The OWPP has other volunteers that include event support and marketing.
